This Privacy Policy applies to both the intoBible website and the intoBible mobile app available on the Apple App Store (together, also referred to as the “Site”). Account Information

When you create an account, we collect and store:

• Email address (for account creation and authentication)

• Profile picture URL (when provided through OAuth providers)

• User-generated content such as Bible notes, highlights, etc.
• Saved Bible study sessions and history
• Reading plan and devotional progress, streaks, and reminder preferences (e.g. reminder time and days)
• Newsletter subscription status, and the date you subscribed, if you choose to subscribe

Local Storage Data

In addition to account data, some information is stored locally on your device using local storage for quick access and offline functionality, such as temporary preferences and cached content.

Mobile App Notifications

If you use the intoBible mobile app, you can enable optional reading plan reminders. These reminders are scheduled and stored locally on your device using the operating system's notification system. We do not use a push notification server, and reminder content is never sent to or shared with us or any third party.

Analytics Data

We also collect anonymized site usage data through a third-party service. For more details, see Section 4: Web Analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To store and sync your Bible study data across devices

3. How We Use Local Storage

Local storage is a browser feature that allows us to save temporary data and settings on your device to enhance your experience on the Site. For example, we may use local storage to:

• Cache content for faster loading and offline access.
• Store temporary session data, history, and settings.
• Remember your current study session state.

Data stored in local storage supplements your account data and may be periodically synchronized with our servers when you're signed in.

4. Web Analytics

Our website uses Vercel Web Analytics to gather insights about site usage. This analytics service:

• Does not use cookies or store personal information
• Collects only anonymized, aggregated data
• Cannot identify or re-identify individual users
• Automatically discards visitor session data after 24 hours

Web Analytics helps us improve our website performance and user experience while respecting visitor privacy.

In addition, we may collect anonymized technical metadata about your visit, including:

• Device type (desktop, mobile, or tablet)
• Browser type
• Operating system
• Preferred language
• Timezone
• Screen resolution
• Referrer (the previous site that linked you here, if any)
• Current page URL

Separately from Vercel Web Analytics, we also record certain in-app usage events (such as feature clicks, daily active use, and on-screen impressions) directly in our own database to help us understand how the Site is used and improve it. These records are paired with the same type of anonymized technical metadata listed above and do not include your name, email address, or other information that directly identifies you.

We take the security of your data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• All database connections use SSL/TLS encryption with industry-standard security protocols
• Our hosting infrastructure provides enterprise-grade security and compliance
• Database access is restricted through secure authentication and connection pooling
• Data transmission between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS
• We implement regular security monitoring and vulnerability assessments
• Our database infrastructure is hosted in secure data centers with AWS/Azure compliance standards

Your Bible study data (notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading plans) is associated with your account and is accessible only to you when signed in. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except with the service providers we rely on to operate the Site, as described in Section 7.

6. Cookies

The Site uses minimal cookies and similar technologies necessary for authentication and maintaining your signed-in session. These are essential for the proper functioning of user accounts and cannot be disabled if you wish to use account features.

7. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the Site. They may process your information only to provide their service to us, and not for their own purposes:

• Vercel — website hosting and anonymized Web Analytics (see Section 4)
• Google and Apple — sign-in, when you choose to create an account with one of them
• Brevo — sending our newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is shared with Brevo for that purpose only. We do not share the email addresses of users who have not subscribed.

We do not integrate advertising platforms, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

8. Your Choices and Data Control

You have several options for managing your data:

Account Data (Cloud Storage)

You can manage your account data stored on our servers through the following options:

• Use the site interface to delete individual items such as saved sessions, history, notes, highlights, etc.
• Delete your entire account and all associated data directly through the user menu (click your profile icon and select “Delete account”). This permanently removes your account, saved sessions, passage history, personal settings, and any other personal data.

Newsletter

Our newsletter is opt-in only. We do not email it to you unless you subscribe from within the Site, and we never sell or share your email address with anyone else for marketing. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or by contacting us using this form. Deleting your account also ends the subscription.

Local Storage (Browser Data)

You can manage or delete data stored locally in your browser at any time through your browser settings. This local data is separate from your account data and includes temporary preferences and cached content. For example, you can clear local storage data in most browsers by accessing the developer tools or site settings.

Analytics

Our web analytics service collects anonymized, aggregated site usage data. While this data does not identify individual users, you can manage your privacy preferences by:

• Using browser settings or extensions that block analytics scripts.
• Enabling browser features like “Do Not Track,” which some analytics services may honor.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account data and Bible study content for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will remove all your personal data and user-generated content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.
